THE COURSE:

# WIIA has designed this course to impart ab-initio training to the students in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering to cover Course in accordance with the requirements given by DGCA in category 'G' Civil Aviation Requirements, section 2, series E, and part VIII Issue IV, date 30th May, 2008. The institute is approved by DGCA, Government of INDIA vides their letter no. Q3-WIIA dated 5th August-2004.


A) Mechanical Stream :

1.)Light Aeroplane & Piston Engine (LA, PE)
2.)Heavy Aeroplane & Jet Engine (HA, JE)


Course
Eligibility 10 + 2 Pass with 50% aggregate marks in physics and mathematics
or
Three Years Diploma in any stream of Engineering
Duration Three Years (Six Semesters)

The total training period is spread over a period 3 years in six semesters.

(1) This Programme lays emphasis on:

1. The role of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, his duties & privileges & professional ethics.
2. Proper understanding of rules governing Civil Aviation in India & abroad.
3. Importance of Precision, Perfection & Patience in Aircraft Maintenance.
4. Individual & collective responsibilities for the qualities of work performed.
5. The importance of good judgment based appropriate knowledge & careful analysis.
6. The importance of asking for helps when in doubt.
7. The importance of continuous study to improve knowledge & maintain current techniques
8. Need to refer & adhere to standard procedures-practices & to ascertain their effectiveness constantly

(2) The above training is imparted through:

A. Theoretical & practical technical knowledge.
B. Knowledge of working practices and skills in the use of simple, advanced & sophisticated hand / machine tools.
C. Ability to inspect, arrive at a proper judgment &
D. Understanding the level of responsibility in certifying the airworthiness of an aircraft.

Three years of training is arranged into six semesters. Each semester will have equal hours of theory & "hands on" practical classes. This combination of theory & practical classes will not only develop the manual skill essential for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering but also give him / her a thorough concept of the aircraft & related systems. The sixth semester will be fully practical oriented. On job training will be conducted on live aircraft in Western India Institute of Aeronautics.
