THE
COURSE:
The
examinations for award of AME licence
is conducted by Director General of
Civil Aviation ( DGCA ),
Government of INDIA. All candidates undergoing AME
course are eligible to appear for these examinations.
WIIA
has designed this course to impart ab-initio training
to the students in the field of Aircraft Maintenance
Engineering to cover Courses in accordance with the requirements given by DGCA
in
category 'G' Civil Aviation Requirements,
section 2, series e, part viii, Issue III date 7-11-1997. The institute
is
approved by DGCA, Government of INDIA vide their letter no.
5-1508/02-AI(2) dated 5 Aug. 04

The
total training period is spread over a period 3 years in six semesters.
This Programme lays emphasis on:
01. The role of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, his duties &
privileges & professional ethics.
02. Social & professional liabilities of an Aircraft Maintenance
Engineer.
03. Concept of Aircraft Maintenance, Preventive, Progress &
Unscheduled Maintenance concept of Airworthiness.
04. Importance of time constraint & it's relevance in the field
of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering without compromising
the safety & airworthiness.
05. Proper understanding of rules governing Civil Aviation in India
& abroad.
06. Development of conceptual, analytical & descriptive abilities
of student.
07. Competency in understanding a possible technical fix & subsequent
handling in safe & efficient manner.
08. Development of highly proficient social, interpersonal &
professional skills.
09. Importance of Precision , Perfection & Patience in Aircraft
Maintenance.
10 Individual & collective responsibilities for the qualities
of work performed.
11. The importance of good judgment based appropriate knowledge
& careful analysis.
12. The importance of asking for helps when in doubt.
13. The importance of continuous study to improve knowledge &
maintain current techniques
14. Need to refer & adhere to standard procedures-practices

matters.
The
above training is imparted through:
A.
Theoretical & practical technical knowledge
B. Knowledge of working practices and skills in the use of simple,
advanced & sophisticated hand / machine tools.
C. Ability to inspect, arrive at a proper judgment &
D. Understanding the level of responsibility in certifying the airworthiness
of an aircraft.
Three years of training is arranged into six semesters. Each semester
will have equal hours of theory & "hands on" practical
classes. This combination of theory &
practical classes will not only develop the manual
skill essential for Aircraft Maintenance
Engineering but also give him / her a thorough
concept of the aircraft & related systems.The sixth semester
will be fully practical oriented.
On job training will be conducted on live aircraft in Ahmedabad
Aviation & Aeronautics Ltd.
Training emphasizes on importance of various Civil Aviation
Requirements, the role of an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, his
responsibilities, relevance of various
subjects, correct working methods
& sequences, appreciation of importance
of proper tools and equipment.
Subjects of semester are arranged in proper
sequence for ease of adaptation. Students will be provided with
"free hand" working environment to facilitate
better learning. Opportunity will be provided
for " hands-on" experience to gain better
exposure of various systems & equipment
on a live aircraft. Practicals shall be conducted
as per the schedule at A.A.A. hanger, Ahmedabad International Airport,
Electrotherm Limited and in
various shops in WIIA. Instructors will monitor the performance
of the trainees, through monthly class tests &
appropriate means like oral-practical examination.
WIIA will make a whoelhearted endeavour
with the best practices to achieve highest possible
standards of
proficiency.
